National day brings out the best and worse in Singaporeans.
I woke up early to have breakfast yesrerday. Went down only to be greeted by a big swarm of REDS all over the place. Even the coffeeshop workers were all wearing red. I didn't know Singaporeans had such a patriotic spirit inside of them. Well done Khatib residents.
Then my mother " hiao" and said...next yr let's all wear red on National Day. Next yr National Day I'd be diving for dead sting ray fossils... The best thing was that she herself said after that she didn't have a red T-shirt. I see where I got my smart ass genes from.
Went to meet dear at City Hall after that. Made our way to Marina Square, it was there I found the biggest burger I have ever eaten. The burger was like thicker...and wider than a Whopper. It had 2 humongous patties, what seemed like whole slab of cheese, a whole lettuce and a big fat slice of tomato. I'd definitely go back for it again. Although not that quick, pretty expensive for fast food.10 bucks for a combo.
Then after that just walked around aimlessly at Marina Square, then went past this bridal shop. The guy there walked up to me and asked me if I was engaged to dear anot.
........
Do I really look that old? He even asked me if I was still studying anot, then when I answered yes he just walked away. I don't have the student look issit? I know I yr 4 already also don't need like that. Dear still laugh and laugh and laugh so much.
Anyway, we were planning to go to the Esplanade to watch the fireworks. Then XingZhen told us she was going to the Merlion alone. She has some problems with her boyfriend, so us, being the passionately helpful couple we are, decided to join her at the Merlion.
Recorded down the fireworks show on digicam. I realised that watching it live and watching it on a video screen is really diffferent. The sounds the effects all are lacking on video screen. It's like watching a gun fired on TV and having one fired right there beside u.
After that came the dreaded journey home. What seemed to be the whole of the Singaporean population was in the MRT station, so it was obviously going to be very crowded in the trains.
Then there was this old man telling his grandaughter to "push to get in" behind me....What the hell happened to teaching our kids the right things?
Then when he couldn't get in, he started to scold this girl saying that she was pushing his grandaughter out and what happened if she got hurt, she is just a small kid blah blah blah. Fuck, it was HIM in the first place who told his grandaughter to "push to get in". Then when his master plan failed, he anyhow blame the girl who was just trying to turn to face the door. He deserved the middle finger the girl gave him.
I just said out "kan ciong Singaporeans"...and I heard a few laughs. Ultimately I was dissappointed at that old man's behaviour, he's worse than a 14 yr old teenager with raging hormones. Next time I'll tell my grandaughter to push to get in the train, u never know what might be lurking in the next one.
